Welcome to Whispers From The Woods.

I’m Debbie…single mother…photographer…accountant…soap maker…seamstress…painter…runner…nature lover…I have an unreasonable fear of bugs…I can be sarcastic…I love to laugh (especially at myself)…following my chosen path…a work in progress…magikal one.
My beautiful daughters…growing up much too quickly. They make life interesting……but I would not trade one single moment of it for the world.
I work at the College of William and Mary ~ a working and teaching university for the last 319 years. An incredibly interesting place to work…..but it has its challenges too. The campus is situated just on the edge of the Colonial Williamsburg area.

I live in the Hampton Roads area of south east Virginia. I was born here but I have moved several times during my life. I have lived in Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Colorado and Texas…I came back home to Virginia to settle down and raise my family. I was once married but unfortunately happily ever after with my daughter’s father wasn’t meant to be.
Photography has been and is my passion….a passion fueled from the time I held my very first film camera to my current DSLR. I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America and the National Association of PhotoShop Professionals. I value my membership in both of these organizations because of the opportunities they allow for me to learn from CPP Masters and Mentors as well as enable me to expand my horizon of learning. I am currently in the process of obtaining my CPP (Certified Professional Photographer) credential.
Sometimes life doesn’t work out like you expected it to…..but I like to think it all happens for a reason so I hang on and enjoy the ride.
“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.”
