Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 7.29.2012

Outside my window…are the closing hours of my vacation.  Back to work tomorrow….I have decided I would like to have time off more often than not.  Sigh.  It is  close to 8:45 in the evening and we are at 79°F with 78% humidity….the dew point is 72° and the winds are calm….sounds lovely outside doesn’t it?  {insert sarcastic laughter here}  The temperature is cooler than the past several evenings but high humidity is never pleasant, trust me.  The rest of the week will be in the mid to high eighties with chances of thunderstorms…pretty typical for this time of year. I spent the past week in South Carolina while they experienced some very hot days.  I did wake up early one morning to a heavy rain shower and hummingbirds outside my window….it was beautiful.

I am thinking about…the August calendar…editing photographs…the fact that my big girl will celebrate her 21st birthday on Wednesday.  Wednesday….21 years…how is that possible??

I am glad…the old refrigerator decided to go out a couple of days before my vacation rather than while I was gone.  I’m glad I found a new refrigerator in stock and was able to have it delivered the Friday before I left on Saturday.  I’m glad the new ice maker in the new refrigerator is a beast and can make some ice.  I was not glad to spend the money right before vacation.  I am glad I got to spend some time  traveling with my youngest daughter while visiting my parents.  I’m glad I was able to get the time to go to see my parents.  I am glad I was able to spend a bit of time with my niece and her family  right before I came home.  I was glad to come home….I am not glad to go back to work.

I am going to…wish I was back in South Carolina when it is time to fill my car up again.  It was as low as $3.05 per gallon at one point….it was $3.42 per gallon today as I passed a station.  It is funny that I now view three dollars as a bargain for gas.  😐

I am hoping…it was a slow week at work and my pile o’stuff on the desk isn’t going to make my head hurt.

I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….Forrest Gump on television ~ I have seen this movie many times but if I run across it while channel surfing, I will usually stop on that channel…. and it will stay on there until the end.   I really like that movie.  A little known fact about me.  🙂

Plans for the week include…editing vacation images….working from home on Tuesday and a dentist appointment later that afternoon….catching up at work.

One of life’s little pleasures…spending time with my grown children.

From my camera…is something you would expect to see me post after a trip to South Carolina.  This shot was taken through a glass window with my 85 mm one morning while drinking coffee with my dad.  Post processed with a black and white filter to mute the colors  just a bit.

I couldn’t help but look up the currency converting website to see how our fuel compares with you. I filled up the car yesterday and paid the equivalent of $5.51 a gallon! It’s been that price for a few months now. Makes life really expensive when you have to drive the kids everywhere for school and sports. It’s also driven up the cost of groceries in the local supermarkets over the last year. The final straw was when the electricity providers raised their prices by 20% on the first of July. So many families are doing it tough and really trying to tighten the purse-strings. Have you noticed increases in your supermarkets in the US at all? Fingers crossed things will level out and stop climbing.

Lord, I feel a little humbled when I see how much you are paying for fuel!! My heavy sigh over $3.42 must sound like a bit of heaven to you. 🙂 The price of gas going up has caused an increase in groceries over the past year in the States as well. Fortunately we haven’t had the huge increase in electricity. It is tough for many people, especially with so many companies freezing salaries for the past several years. Everything else is going up except for salaries. Now we are dealing with a huge drought that is predicted to cause another increase in groceries…always something. I’m with you, fingers crossed things will level out sometime soon.
