Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 9.05.2011

Outside my window…are the waning hours of the 2011 Labor Day weekend.  The last hurrah of summer…the official end of tourist season.  The end.  The beaches and the roads belong to the locals once again.  It is currently 77°F with storms approaching.  We have a forecast for thunderstorms this evening….scattered possibility for tomorrow.  We are expecting some rain from Tropical Storm Lee, which I’m sure has been downgraded by this point and Katia is forecast to take a hard right into the Atlantic.  It appears as if her greatest threat to our area will be rip currents and large swells….serious concerns in their own right of course.  People who live in a coastal region know that when rip current warnings are issued, you should not ignore them if you are smart.

I am glad…to have my baby girl back home from her vacation in Colorado with her father.  She had a wonderful time and is already looking forward to the next trip.  Can’t say that I blame her…I would love to take a trip to Colorado myself.  🙂

I am thinking…that the universal groan I am hearing in my head is coming from all the kids that have to start back to school tomorrow.  My youngest was saying this evening this summer went by way too fast.  I have to agree.

I am working on…getting myself together for a wedding shoot in Emerald Isle, North Carolina this weekend.  So many things running through my head….I’m worried it may explode at any time now.  I have just finished editing images from a baby shower I shot for a friend of my oldest daughter this past Thursday evening.  The mother-to-be and I will be getting together for a maternity shoot in the coming month and in November….little bitty baby shoot.  🙂

I am hoping…that everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.  I don’t know about anyone else, but it always seems a bit sad to me when Labor Day weekend is over.  I don’t know if it is because I know winter will be here soon enough….or because the year is almost over.  I know when I was younger I didn’t look forward to another year of school…but older, can’t really put my finger on it but the tinge of sadness still appears.

I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks….Criminal Minds on television…my fingers tippy tapping on the keyboard.  Happily I do not hear thunder…perhaps the storms have passed us by.

Plans for the week…a four day work week….finalize my shoot schedule and prep for my trip to Emerald Isle…go through the inevitable adjustment that occurs each year during the first week of school.

One of life’s little pleasures…having both of my girls in the same city once again.  🙂

From my camera…from days gone by…

I miss old fashioned typewriters. My mom had one that typed in cursive. I remember cutting up more than one cuticle because I didn’t aim my fingers right and they would slip between the keys and get all scratched up lol. To quote the Bunkers, “Those were the days.” lol

I miss them too…in fact, I use to type on this thing when I was in school. I thought when I got a job that had an electric typewriter I had died and gone to heaven! 🙂 My how far we have come….

I kind of miss the first day of school. I loved the lead up to the first day, buying new clothes and new school supplies. Picking out the outfit your going to wear for the first day! Meeting up with your friends that you haven’t seen a while. This has all made me so nostalgic! Also, aren’t you glad it is fall? I love the in-between seasons!

I can remember the excitement that preceeded the first day of school myself…but at the same time, didn’t really look forward to the early hours and what seemed like endless days! I’m loving the idea that fall is just around the corner…we will probably still have some hotter than I would like days, but soon enough there will be that chill in the air. 🙂
