Outside My Window

Outside My Window ~ 3.7.10

Outside My Window…is a wonderful 59ºF with sunshine and blue skies at 2:30 p.m..  A little later post today….I woke up and dove right in to spring cleaning.  I took a break to eat some lunch and thought it would be a good time to finish this post.  We are at our forecast high for the day but the temperature tomorrow will be in the mid 60’s with lots of sunshine.  I have noticed more and more robin redbreasts around the yard…..a sure sign spring is not too far off.

I am thinking…I’m not so fond of the raccoon that has been coming into the backyard to snack on the sunflower seeds I have been putting out for the birds.  He is quite a big and eats an entire feeder full!  I did have a feeder hanging from a hook on the fence when I discovered the raccoon was eating them, I removed it.  The other feeder is hanging on a Shepard’s hook in the middle of the yard so I thought it was safe from him.  Last night I heard this strange sound in the yard so I got up and looked out the window…..there he was banging his body against  the hook so the feeder would shake out the seeds.  Grrrrr….time to get a bigger hook!  Anyone know of any remedies for keeping raccoons out of your yard??

I am thankful for…blue skies and sunshine this weekend!  I really needed to charge my battery and this was just what the doctor ordered.  I was getting really tired of gray skies and cold.  Even if this is short lived, it was worth it for two days straight!

From the kitchen…were turkey and ham sandwiches with provolone cheese on onion rolls for the kids, I had mine on some rosemary and sea salt bread from Fresh Market.  Very tasty.  I’m still debating what will be for dinner tonight ~ maybe tuna melts.  For some reason, that sounds pretty tasty to me….with asparagus spears.  I am happy to report another burger has been eaten without any unpleasant side effects.  Woo Hoo!  🙂

I am creating…my home movie DVD collection.  I have finished with my daughter’s home movie segment….now I’m working on some other tapes I want to transfer.  I have noticed the quality on some of the older ones is not as crisp as it once was….I’m probably doing all this in the nick of time.

I am going…to continue my cleaning quest….when the urge hits me, I have got to go with it!  🙂

I am reading…my new Runner’s World magazine.  I’m getting myself psyched up to begin again…..which will be soon I hope!  I have been sedentary far too long now.

I am hoping…to finish my video to DVD transfer this week.  I’m a little bit tired of wires, DVD’s and equipment drug out in the living room.  Plus I will be able to watch all of these without much difficulty after it is finished.

I am hearing…the ticking of my many clocks…..an episode of Friends on television…..my daughter’s ring tone on the cell phone.

Around the house…lots and lots of clutter as a result of our spring cleaning.  This is what happens when you drag things out of closets and cabinets.  Fortunately, we are getting rid of more than we are putting back and that is a plus.

Plans for the week include…finish up what I don’t complete today.  I have a feeling it will take a little longer than one day to complete this task.  I also want to get out in the yard and get it ready for planting some flowers.  I’m looking forward to warmer weather.

One of my favorite things…the first signs of spring.  I have noticed the robin redbreasts, my day lilies have sprouted and I can’t wait for the cherry blossoms and Bradford flowering pear trees to bloom.  There is a row of cherry blossom trees lining the road outside of the Canon plant not too far from my house.  I hope to get up early one morning after they bloom and get a nice photo.  The pear trees….no pears but some beautiful white flowers.  They line the streets in many places so another chance  for photos.

A picture I’d like to share with you…Friday evening photos.  I like the gulls flying towards the Sun Dog in the second photo.

I am totally jealous all of the signs of spring you have already. We still have snow on the ground although I can finally see some grass!

I have a feeling we will see some robins soon…

I’ll whisper directions to the next robin I see Tracey! 🙂 I’m loving all these signs and I keep thinking ‘hurry up…hurry up’ but then I hate to rush the year along….just so tired of this winter I suppose!

    Hi Debbie,
Great pictures of the sunset! I love the colors. I will have to check out the canon lens for my canon 🙂
I am doing the spring cleaning thing too, and there is a lot of clutter laying around, but I got sick of looking at it and put it all in boxes, and put it in the spare bedroom, now I need to clean that room out and have no idea where to put the stuff. I know it’s yard sale time. But I just can’t put myself through that stress right now. Plus it’s been too cold. It’s finally warming up here too! It’s supposed to be almost 70 ♥♥♥

Arent’ the old tombstones interesting to read? It’s sad to think there were all those wars in this day and age. I know Williamsburg is as old in history as it is here.

    Have a great day ♥

Sandy….great minds think alike ~ I do the box thing too! I’m trying to avoid that this time but it is so tempting. I don’t think I could handle the stress of a yard sale myself….those things are a ton of work! I would love to one day visit Charleston…so beautiful from everything I have seen and heard.
